2010 is still relatively young, yet I feel like I’ve done so much. At the beginning of the year I burst through the door of 2010 with all guns a blazing. I have given my every effort to raise capital. I’ve telephoned, emailed, presented to, and networked with a large number of angel investors and VC’s.
Here are my statistics so far in 2010:
- 41 Angel Groups and VC’s received my executive summary
- 7 Angel Groups and VC’s have turned me down
- 6 Angel Groups accepted me to present to their selection committee

Friday of last week I set out early to Ontario airport for my flight into Oakland International Airport. For those of you who aren’t familiar with San Fran, there are two airports that service the city, one being San Francisco International airport, the other being Oakland International Airport.
Arriving into Oakland through a dense fog, I checked in with the hire car company, boarded my economy compact car and I was on the move.
My first meeting was with my friend Chris, whom I mentioned in an earlier post. The purpose of meeting Chris was to discuss venture capital and finance in general. We met in Palo Alto, which by the way has some extraordinary homes (see photos below).

This week just gone has produced some mixed results; mostly positive. Any result at all during a holiday week (it was Thanksgiving on Thursday here in the States) is something to be proud of.
The most exciting news for the week was to see MySchoolAct move into the top 10 stage of its Australian competition. As noted in a recent post, entries for acts are now closed and the exciting news is that we exceeded our target number of acts. I’m also very pleased with the number of registered fans we have – the number by far exceeded my expectations.

I’m a little late with this post. But hopefully the wait was well worth it as I do have some good news to share.
Yesterday ended Global Entrepreneurship Week, a week long program, celebrating entrepreneurs and encouraging free thinking within our youth. The goals of the week are to Inspire, Connect, Mentor and Engage. As an interesting coincidence the early goals of MySchoolAct were to Inspire, Educate, Create and Celebrate. Personally I think MySchoolAct’s goal’s are much more catchier, and so they should be, after all we are in the entertainment industry.

Motivation to carry out a task is backed by the want to do it (whether it’s through the want of personal satisfaction, personal glory, or a sence self worth) and the need to do it (a need to generate an income or a need to fit into society as a contributor to progress).
I’ve previously written about my involvment in MySchoolAct, but for those of you who are unfamiliar with the company, here’s my elevator pitch:
