MySchoolAct, a company of which I am a shareholder and the Chair, has today announced that its Australian competition will be extended.
“From 10am Tuesday October 20, 2009, MySchoolAct is extending the entry and voting period of this years’ competition by four weeks due to overwhelming feedback from high schools right around Australia.”
Entries to MySchoolAct and voting will NOW close on Friday 27 November at 11:59pm.
The think tank of MySchoolAct thought long and hard about extending the Australian competition. There were concerns that moving the target, thus changing the rules may attract negative press (that may still be the case), however for the fairness of those acts that have been caught up in end of year exams, extending the competition felt right.
My School Act is about finding talent; by providing an even playing field we are allowing the talent to surface. I’ll wait anxiously to see the results of this recent announcement. For the full announcement, follow this link to the MySchoolAct website.
For those of you unfamiliar with My School Act: MySchoolAct is an online talent competition created exclusively for high school students who live for their music. Our winning Act will score the ultimate career kick-start, picking up a recording deal, commercial album release and music video. Currently, the Australian competition is underway (now extended, as noted above) and offers a recording deal and publishing deal with Sony Music Australia as well as three full SAE Institute Diploma scholarships worth up $20,000 each.
To witness the future of music, I encourage you to check out the site, become a fan, and participate in the fun of the competition.
